Cardiac Physiologist Helper

Applications are invited for a highly motivated individual to join the Cardiology team as a Cardiac Physiologist Helper at Croydon University Hospital which is part of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Your role will be to assist the Cardiac Physiologists in their daily clinical work as well as performing some clerical and office duties. This is a very busy and demanding role and the successful candidate will need previous experience of working in a busy department/ ward.
There is a team of eighteen Cardiac Physiologist/ Cardiographer staff with seven Consultant Cardiologists, seven Specialist Registrars as well as Specialist Heart Failure and Arrhythmia Nurses. A team of clerical staff are also based in the department to support the service. The core philosophy of the unit is to make the patient the centre of the process and to provide high quality, efficient care for local people. There are approximately 4,500 staff at the Trust who provide services for a population of over 350,000 people with a high level of ethnic diversity.
The Cardiology Department moved into a new purpose built area in 2017 and is now based in the Croydon Heart Centre along with a Cardiac Catheter Suite and Daycare Unit. It provides a comprehensive range of non-invasive procedures that include: ECG’s, Ambulatory monitoring (ECG, Event and BP), Technician Led Exercise Tests, Adult Transoesophageal Echocardiography, Adult and Paediatric Transthoracic Echocardiography (including contrast, bubble studies and stress echo), There are also specialist Heart Failure, Valve and Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics.
The Cardiac Catheter Suite is adjacent to the Cardiac Care Unit and invasive procedures performed include: Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterisation, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (+/- IVUS and pressure wires). There is also a well-established Pacemaker, ICD and CRT implant and follow-up service.
