Job Title: NW London Child Death ReviewTeam Manager

Hours per week: 37.5 with on call on a rota basis to cover the full CDR Team hours of opening: including Saturday and Sunday mornings cover once in 4 weeks

Are you a compassionate and experienced nurse ready to establish a new team?

The new North West London Child Death Review (NWL CDR) Service is being established. This covers Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster Local Authority areas, with 159 child deaths in 2018/19. Starting 29th September 2019, the new CDR Team will be phased in, and be fully operational for January 2020.

You will establish a nurse led service, supported by Designated Nurses and Doctors for Child Death. It will provide expert capacity to enable a consistent, quality service across the partnership.

This post is split 50/50 between a managerial and clinical focus. Your clinical role as part of the nurse rota will involve all aspects of the multi-agency Joint Agency Response (JAR) minimising any delay through Child Death Review Meetings (CDRM) to supporting the final Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) review. You will take CDR related key worker responsibilities and support other key work leads. You will be rostered as part of our 4 CDR Nurses to cover the full CDR Service core working hours: 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday and on call 8am -9am and 5pm – 9pm as well as 8am – 1pm Saturdays and Sundays.


In your managerial role you will lead and co-ordinate the team. You will need to ensure that partners are engaged at all levels. You will be responsible for ensuring that the NWL CDR service provides high quality reports and data returns. You will coordinate the production of the CDOP annual report. You will oversee and quality assure the delivery the dissemination of learning from CDOPs and measuring impact on practice across the partnership. You will collaborate with professionals to inform and change practice.

You will be highly skilled in providing constructive challenge and support to partner agencies by critically reviewing deaths. You will provide specialist input into the ongoing development of the NWL child death process.

The more efficient and effective your contribution, the more our CDR Team can focus on reducing the number of child deaths in the future.You'll need a positive and flexible approach to teamwork and the ability to work on your own initiative along with a strict regard for information sharing and confidentiality.

You will work as a skilled member of the CDR Team, assisting in the provision of high standards of holistic family-centred care supporting those who have experienced the death of a child. You will work in partnership with agencies across NWL to ensure that the process to support families is effective.
