Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will play a leading role in the development of all mechanical equipment and systems in the company's future projects. As a Mechanical Engineer you should have a broad range of experience of all stages of a typical EPC project, from conceptual studies to detailed design, procurement, installation and commissioning. You will have a proven track record of working on projects of different sizes and experience of interfacing with other disciplines such as Process, Civil, Structural and Electrical. Experience with anaerobic digestion and organic waste would be a distinct advantage.

Major Responsibilities:
Undertake the design of major plant mechanical equipment (including rotating, static & package equipment and piping design) throughout the Preliminary and Detailed Design, Procurement, and Construction phases
Main areas of responsibility include CHP, boilers, hydraulics, compressors, fans and blowers, piping design, mixers and stirrers
Prepare and issue schedules, procedures, calculations, data sheets, requisitions in accordance with project requirements
Ensure all Mechanical Equipment conforms to all applicable codes and standards as well as specifications and client requirements
Prepare Functional Specifications for major equipment, review supplier / vendor proposals and documentation, and co-ordination with various other disciplines for data inputs
Provide technical input in the development of 3D design
Provide direction and guidance on all technical queries relating to mechanical disciplines
Provide technical assistance, coordination and liaison with other discipline engineers on all aspects of technical matters and audits
Liaise with Independent verifiers in demonstrating fitness for purpose and provide clarification and justification
Participate in all project safety and design / HAZOP / HAZID & constructability reviews as necessary
Participate in equipment procurement activities such as witness of inspection and testing
Provide technical support to maintenance and operation teams, carry out trouble shooting, resolving technical problems and failure investigation
Co-ordinate with equipment suppliers to resolve issues in plant design, manufacturing, shipment, installation and commissioning
Prepare engineering reports, method statements and Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality analysis (FMECA) reports

Experience & Qualifications
Substantial proven experience in an engineering design company
Proven track record working in an EPC project and a multi-discipline team environment
Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical engineering preferred)
Membership of a recognised professional institute preferred
Strong and broad range of mechanical engineering skills, familiar with common engineering practices such as hand-calculations, mathematical simulations and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools
Knowledge of CHP design and specifications
Experience of participation in HAZOP/ HAZID/ SIL Rating workshops
Experience dealing with independent certification bodies
Experience with various mechanical equipment suppliers / vendors
Exceptional standards of spoken and written English
Practical experience working within a similar highly regulated environment
Working knowledge of the application of DSEAR and ATEX in industrial facilities
Proven ability to manage costs; and demonstrable commercial awareness
