Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Post CCT Fellow in Pain Medicine
6-12 Months Post
The Pain Medicine Department at Frimley Park Hospital wishes to appoint a highly motivated doctor with a special interest in the management of Chronic Pain.
Frimley Park Hospital has a large, well-respected pain unit that delivers pain services to patients in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. There are 6 consultants with an interest in chronic pain management who form part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team that includes a nurse consultant, a specialist nurse, 6 specialist pain physiotherapists and 4 psychologists.
More than 2000 new referrals per annum are seen within a dedicated suite of rooms at the Aldershot Centre for Health. The hospital performs around 3500 pain procedures a year of which more than 500 involved radiofrequency treatment, this being the second highest rate in the country.
The unit provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to pain management that includes 7 psychology-led pain management programmes per year. In addition there are nurse-led general pain and external neuromodulation clinics and combined physiotherapy clinics.
This Fellowship is aimed at senior trainees who are in possession of the FRCA (or equivalent) or CCT holders seeking to develop their interest in chronic pain management. The Fellow will have the opportunity to significantly expand on their interventional caseload as well as to develop their pain management skills within a biopsychosocial model. The Fellowship can be adapted to support the Fellow in developing specific interests. The post is for 6 to 12 months.
