Summary

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, this role requires an experienced Operations Manager to develop existing operations and prepare for future expansion of operations at the Cambridge site.
Responsible for all day to day operations at our 5-acre site at Bourn Airfield, Cambridge. Current production lines focus on cementitious powder blending and packing. Future growth plans include concrete production and large volume powder blending. The 10,000ft² warehouse is used for raw materials and finished goods that complement our waterproofing and durable building products portfolio.
Experience in chemical/powder/aggregate blending is key to allow growth as the business develops.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Operations
* Manage current team of 4 (Operations Administrator/ Operations Operatives) to achieve daily production targets and completion of daily picking/packing of orders
* Ensure necessary resources are in place including staff, training, equipment and materials. Utilising temporary staff for peak production periods
* Stock inventory management inline company objectives/processes- stock monitoring/ bills of material etc.
* Purchasing in line with company procurement process
* Process improvement- existing operations and future operations expansion. Review of existing and future machinery and equipment/ flow positioning to achieve most efficient operation
* Key holder- Responsible for ensuring site is opened and closed as per the needs of the business (incld. out of hours and weekend access)

Facilities Management- preventative and problem solving
* Develop the planned preventative maintenance process for all buildings, open spaces, utilities, equipment and machinery
* Ensure all internal and external areas are always maintained to the highest level
* Liaison with all contractors, services and facilities in line with company permit to work system
* React and take steps to ensure that any damage as a result from any accident or damages to equipment is rectified to reduce lost time or operational efficiency of the site
* Manage external cleaning team, ensure cleaning performance is to the expected level
* Main point of contact for fire and security alarm system including out of hours response
* Manage company fleet of cars and vans

HSEQ- policies, procedures and reporting
* Support the Group Operations Manager, to provide effective leadership for health and safety, actively participating in monthly/quarterly department meetings across all business units. Ensure, arising actions are prioritised and completed efficiently and to promote inclusion of all staff in shared HSE goals and objectives
* Ensure the requirements of management systems (45001 (HS), 14001 (E), 9001 (Q), 6001 (RS)) are maintained across all business units
* Incident reporting process - investigate, critically analyse, root cause analysis, report and detail improvements to prevent accidents /injuries
* Manage and maintain the sites COSHH database, ensuring COSHH data sheets are available for all substances used across all business units
* Manage and maintain the Risk Assessment database, ensuring Risk Assessments are available for all tasks across all business units
* Manage and maintain safe systems of work procedures in line with Risk and COSHH assessment information
* Provide competent advice and technical guidance on relevant legislation to enable management to discharge their statutory duty

Environmental Management
* Responsible for site environmental management
* Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement
* Promote and coordinate environmental management and sustainability where practicable
* Manage and control recycling and waste management practices in line with company process

Business Skills and Attributes:
* Strong reporting skills to produce monthly operations update report including HSEQ performance statistics
* Ability to create a positive and safe environment
* Self-starter who can lead by example and hit the ground running
* Excellent communication skills are essential- ability to guide people on new journeys as the operations expands
* Strong investigatory and critical analysis skills
* Excellent presentation skills and ability to deliver workshops/training to small and large numbers of staff
* Excellent IT proficiency i.e. Proficiency in Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel is a must in addition to other Microsoft Office/365 packages

Knowledge and experience:
* Experience in manufacturing plant in an operations management role - proven passion for HSE and facilities management experience
* Experience in stock inventory management- stock analysis/ bills of material etc
* Nationally recognised qualifications in operations/ facilities/ safety management
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of H&S legislation, policies and procedures
* Ability to manage and implement policies in line with changing legislation
* Desirable - qualified engineer in either chemical or process engineering
