Our small (12 bed) and family-like residential home requires a dedicated and conscientious care assistant to join our friendly team on a full-time basis (shifts mostly 8am-6pm or overnight 10pm-8am). We’re seeking a caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with people aged 63 and above and assisting them with their daily living activities. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing our people with high quality care and support. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, well-organized and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Proven experience in working with people with care and support needs, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, is desirable for this role.
Tasks include:
Assisting people with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and toileting.
Assisting in the safe hoisting, transferring, repositioning and movement of clients.
Observing, monitoring and recording people’s physical and emotional well-being, and promptly reporting any changes to senior staff.
Encouraging people to participate in social and recreational activities.
Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed linens.
Occasionally preparing light meals for 12 people in the kitchen (food hygiene training provided).
Occasionally accompanying people to medical appointments, though professionals normally come to the home.
Relevant experience or qualifications (all necessary training will be given where needed):
Clean DBS check.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
Certification or training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) desirable, but not essential.
Training in safe patient handling and movement desirable, but not essential.
