Shift Supervisor

Role Overview

We currently have a vacancy for a Shift Supervisor on our SSC Contract operated on behalf of P&G at our West Thurrock site.

The Role:

  • Day to Day operation of the warehouse functions – supported by the Warehouse and Shift Manager
  • Managing staff and reallocation of tasks in accordance with demand & priorities
  • Ensure Warehouse throughput is controlled always
  • Ensure that warehouse floor space is managed to stop congestion and breeches of Health and Safety
  • Liaise with internal functions as required – supported by Warehouse and Shift Manager
  • Ensure sensible and safe working practices are followed by all warehouse staff always
  • To assist in investigations and disciplinaries
  • To help manage absence and lateness to ensure correct allocation of labour for each shift
  • Report breakdowns and maintenance issues at the earliest times to ensure speedy repairs
  • Ensure Warehouse housekeeping is kept to a high standard
  • Ensure Quality Standards are maintained to the highest level
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to always
  • Carry out spot checks of picked and packed products
  • Ensure all procedures and documentation are maintained
  • Supervise goods in and put-away functions – supported by Warehouse Manager.
  • Make sure all deliveries for customer orders are met and completed in full within the set timescale
  • Manage all expected processes and procedures on site in accordance with the expectations of the business
  • Support and promote the delivery and implementation of costs saving initiatives

The person:

  • Previous Shift Manager experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing / distribution environment
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Strong Health and Safety Awareness
  • Good understanding of Quality and strong customer focus
  • Understanding of WMS
  • Computer literate
  • Can demonstrate analytical and numerical competence
  • ‘Can do’ attitude with a flexible approach to work
  • Able to effectively communicate internally and externally at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player
