It’s busy, runs a 24/7 rota and requires you to be a hands-on Senior Biomedical scientist

The varied case load, including a Fetal Medicine Unit, Liver Transplant Unit, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and a designated Major Trauma Unit will expose you to different working techniques, environments and pressures. You will want to know that we do this safely of course; holding UKAS accreditation in accordance with ISO15189 standards and being regularly inspected by MHRA should give you this assurance. Furthermore, the laboratory is IBMS approved for pre-registration and specialist training in Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice – Professional Development and Quality are our cornerstones.
Are you looking to build on your established skills and help promote and develop those in the early stages of their career?
Building on your existing Specialist level skills set, having obtained your MSc, FIBMS or equivalent, you will be joining as a Band 7 equivalent and looking to support the Haemonectics BloodTrack system and other initiatives leveraging technology to improve performance and care for patients.
You will be working in a team which comprises 10 dedicated out of hours staff, supporting the Blood Transfusion Operations Manager in the day to day organisation, management and supervision of the laboratory to ensure delivery of a timely, first class service.
With evidence of advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques, together with an understanding of all relevant legislation, GMP and UK guidelines the successful applicant will support an efficient and effective team at the Denmark Hill site.
The department is equipped with Biorad IH1000 and ID-Gelstation (soon to be replaced with IH500) analysers, LIMS is provided by WinPath, Clinisys system.
