Summary

Workshop operative / Delivery Driver Job Description
The applicant’s main duties will be workshop based but will be required to carry out deliveries when requested. Warehouse Operative / Delivery Driver is ultimately responsible for the performance and safety of his/her daily duties. Their role is to maintain the standards of equipment, deliveries and collections made to customer locations mainly hire and sale equipment that passes through the company on a day to day basis. The applicant will rely on assistance of every other member of staff but primarily their next in line to ensure all equipment supplied is in a good safe working order always in their care and that the equipment, delivery/collection is made in such a way as to not inconvenience the customer in any way. He/she will always ensure a safe environment for him/herself and others around them; paying specific attention at the same time in assisting other depots/company employees to ensure the group performs to its maximum.
Key Responsibilities/Objectives Performance
The applicant will be responsible for the performance of his/her daily duties, and when applicable other depot deliveries when instructed and must be multi-skilled and adaptable, they must be physically and mentally adept in providing a first class working practice within his/her duties and on site when required and able to service the company’s customers via telephone communication or face to face. Although the applicant should look to maximise productivity they should always be acutely aware of safety without compromise. They are responsible for ensuring that they can function as part of a team or individually on their own.
Duties will include:
Making sure they are available for work on time as contracted, physically fit, free from illness, banned substances and wearing appropriate PPE.
Making sure that their work space is kept a safe environment for him/herself and others around them.
Making sure their vehicle is safe to use clean (inside and out) and in a presentable condition.
Making sure all equipment is loaded correctly according to paperwork.
Making sure all equipment collected is loaded correctly according to paperwork.
Making sure all equipment loaded is fastened safely and securely.
Making sure all equipment being delivered or collected has the correct paperwork.
Making sure all company communication devices are working correctly.
Making sure they adhere to the current driving laws and restrictions
Making sure that they have suitable training for any tasks they have been instructed to carry out.
Making sure all equipment is allocated to the correct designated workshop area and search ability kept to minimum.
Making sure all tools are clean and cared for and correctly stored in the designated areas after use.
Making sure all inspection/testing equipment is calibrated and ready for use always.
Making sure all equipment made available to them is maintained and supplied in a safe condition.
Making sure that they have suitable training for any tasks they have been instructed to carry out.
Making sure equipment loaded onto vehicles are accurate according to paperwork.
Making sure all equipment off loaded from vehicles are accurate according to paperwork.
Making sure all equipment ready for hire/sale has been inspected/tested to the current LOLER standard and reports written to confirm
Making sure all equipment is allocated to the correct designated workshop area and search ability kept to minimum.
Making sure that periodic stock take levels are carried out accurately.
