Summary

Summary:
Palamatic Ltd, a leading manufacturer of specialist lifting and handling solutions, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales Applications Engineer to join its growing team. This role sits within the Sales and Commercial team and provides office based technical support to the external sales team. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of industry processes and an aptitude to continuous learning and understanding. Experience and understanding of AutoCAD is essential to be able to work with client requirements and environments, understand and amend drawings where necessary, and make suitable recommendations for a ‘right fit’ solution.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and guidance for the sales team.
- Process and provide accurate sales quotations for all non-standard Palamatic product, spare parts, gantry systems and services.
- Develop in-house Price Book to incorporate all non-standard equipment and types.
- Develop the technical specifications for sales proposals.
- Develop Sales Configurator tools for all equipment and types
- Research and produce technical reports, white papers, presentations, etc. for the Sales and Marketing team.
- Support Engineering with Finite Element Analysis requirements.
- Support Projects with FMEA, HZAOP, Ignition Hazard Assessments, Engineering procedures and compiling of ATEX Technical Construction Files.
- Providing clients with CAD sales drawings in 3D where applicable
- Arranging and attending design review meetings when necessary to provide a solution to the application.
- Customer liaison where appropriate to ensure proposed solutions are appropriate for client need.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:
- First or upper second-class degree with honours in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial product design and an MSc MPhil in a related subject, e.g. Mechanical Engineering/Materials.
- Understanding of Lifting/ Special Purpose Machinery Design for the Pharmaceutical and Powder Processing Industry
- Ability to analyse materials and select the most suitable.
- Experience in understanding and applying ATEX legislation EN ISO 80079-36:2016, EN ISO 80079-37:2016, EN 60079-14:2013, EN 60079-31
- Project management Qualification e.g. APMP, Prince 2, etc.
- Experience of Design of Material Handling Equipment in compliance with hazardous environment regulations and zoning
COMPEX Qualification.
- Experience of providing, training, guidance and consultation with regards to ATEX Regulations at all levels of the business and clients.
- Experience of Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus CAE or Solidworks.
- Working understanding of Excel VBA for designing and producing Sales Configurator Tools.
- Broad knowledge of Pharmaceutical industry cGMP processes and Powder Handling processes
- Good knowledge of materials handling lifter systems.
- Good knowledge of materials of manufacture (grades of stainless steel etc)
- Knowledge of CE marking and confirming to Design legislation
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent organisational skills are paramount (high throughput of work)
- Proactive approach and ability to respond quickly to new ideas and suggestions
- Proficient in the use of CAD systems
- Excellent all-round IT skills
- Recognised qualification in Engineering is required
- Technically-minded and hands-on
- Ability to close a deal is advantageous
- Commercial awareness (terms and conditions of sale)
- Knowledge and use of Solid Works is an advantage.
