Band 5 - Senior Clinical Coder ACC Qualified

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced ACC qualified Clinical Coder who would like to be part of a friendly, relaxed but focused team environment, offering flexible working hours to help meet people’s work/life balance.
We are a centralised team that code all specialities and rotate on a monthly basis. We code primarily from full patient casenotes along with an integrated Care Record and a few stand alone systems. We are looking to recruit a happy, professional, hard working person with a sense of humour who can muck in with the team to get the job done. We rarely have vacancies and are proud of our retention record.
As a Band 5 you will be responsible for regularly liaising with both clinical and non-clinical staff, monitoring your uncoded reports, discussing and communicating complex coding issues to all levels of staff. You are responsible for ensuring you meet the Trusts deadlines set out for our team. You will therefore need to have excellent communication skills as well as significant coding experience and an extensive knowledge of national coding standards. You will from time to time need to act as mentor to trainee clinical coders within the department, supporting them through their training and development.
Experience coding across all specialities in an acute NHS Trust is required along with the ACC. If we are unable to find a suitable candidate we will consider applications from Coders with excellent coding skills who may not yet have taken the NCCQ. Any such candidate, if successful, will be appointed on a Band 4 and the RRP will not apply. We will also consider applicants preferring part-time/job-share as long as we can cover the whole time equivalent vacancy.
