The Therapy Department is held in high regard within the hospital, and has a good track record of service developments and innovative ways of working to provide high quality and efficient services to all our patients. All of our staff are supported by a committed team of highly specialised clinical therapists, with close supervision, regular in-service training, funding for external courses and close post graduate links with Plymouth, UWE and Bournemouth Universities.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Admission Avoidance Team. The Admission Avoidance Team works across all admitting and inpatient areas of the hospital aiming to both prevent unnecessary admissions and to facilitate rapid discharges. The team plays an active role in our Frailty Assessment Unit and will work closely with the specialist nurses and Geriatricians. The Admission Avoidance Team are also undertaking a new role supporting local care homes with a view to reducing their hospital admissions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist who has wide ranging post graduate Physiotherapy experience with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our dynamic team. Working alongside Highly Specialist Senior Physiotherapists and Clinical Leads, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching and service development skills. You will be competent in your ability to comprehensively assess patients that present with a wide range of conditions. To facilitate this, you will have a broad theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology that, when underpinned by established clinical reasoning skills, will allow you to formulate appropriate individualised management plans.
You will be supported in developing these Physiotherapy skills by the appropriate Speciality Leads and encouraged in your professional development from a large and supportive therapy team.
