Designated Clinical Officer - SEND

The Special Educational Needs Board for Croydon Local Area is keen to appoint a Dedicated Clinical Officer to support the implementation and improvement of local area SEND practice and outcomes for the children and young people of the Borough who have SEND.

This post is a jointly funded position by Croydon Council Children’s Services and Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group. The post will be recruited by Croydon Health Services and seconded into the Integrated Children’s and Maternity Commissioning team (on behalf of the council and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)). The post holder will be expected to hold an independent view, based on best practice, clinical and national guidance and statutory requirements as to achieve the best possible outcomes for Croydon’s children.

They will be expected to work across the local system including health, education, social care, and voluntary sector to support appropriate oversight and assurance that the health system is engaged in the SEND agenda. There will also be a requirement to work closely with parent forum and support groups.

The Designated Medical Officer, Designated Clinical Officer and lead commissioner will develop working arrangements which enable the required duties and responsibilities to be discharged appropriately and with the maximum effect.

This post is open to applicants with a qualification to practise in Children’s therapies including, Speech and language therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registration is required for this role.
