Summary

It’s an exciting time to join us: KMPT has been rated Outstanding for Caring and Good overall in our most recent CQC inspection in January 2019!

The Thanet Community Mental Health Service for Older People is a multidisciplinary team committed to providing high quality, person-centred care for older people experiencing mental health difficulties, cognitive impairment or dementia.

You will be carrying out a variety of mental health and occupational therapy specific assessments and working alongside the service user and their carers to develop a person-centred plan of care. There will be opportunities to work with service users on their recovery journey, as their care coordinator, on an individual and group basis using recovery tools. Interventions provided may include Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Anxiety Management. You will also undertake Activities of Daily Living assessments using the MOHO model. In particular this will aid in the diagnosis of a dementia.

You will need to be clinically confident and competent in working with individuals in community settings, providing group work and be able to work effectively in a multi-professional context, undertaking generic tasks and linking with primary care teams, social services and the voluntary sector.

This is an interesting time to join when services are being redesigned, so foresight and the desire to make a difference are essential. This post requires that you are a good communicator, and are able to adopt a flexible, adaptable and proactive approach to your work.

You will benefit from encouragement to continue to develop your own specialist skills, knowledge and competence through participation, reflection, supervision, and training. There is a strong management and clinical supervision structure to support you, and the trust appraisal process will help to guide your development.

This post is subject to a six month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

Employment in this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner.
