Summary

United Grand Lodge of England seeks an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer for the ICT department on a full time basis. Using your excellent PL/ SQL skills you will be developing robust and scaleable code across our Oracle assets. The role will suit a candidate who enjoys hands-on and technically challenging Oracle PL/ SQL development. The environment is highly bespoke and based around membership management, so you will have good analytical and problem solving skills twinned with your strong PL/ SQL coding.

Producing high quality software with limited supervision and to specification
 Writes high quality and performant coding for reports using the AOP software utilised at UGLE
 Helping with designs, structure and problem resolution with regards to new and existing software
 Produce test schedules and test plans for all software produced
 Work with customers and colleagues regarding the design, testing and release of software
 Suportting the UI team to develop rich, quality and performant Oracle Apex applications.
 Advising on future enhancements to the software
 Examine existing software and determines requirements for new/modified systems in the light of business needs
 Provides input to feasibility and design workshops held by the team as required
 Participate in technical decision-making process as part of a team
 To analyse, architect, design, build, document, monitor and review both the development of new programs and existing programs in use by the business from time to time. To include (but not limited to) Oracle related products, integrated development environments, application development tools including reporting tools, database development and monitoring tools, code control and document authoring tools
 Provide customer facing technical support for our large member database
Must haves:
 Minimum 8+ years of proven experience developing in Oracle PL/SQL and SQL programs
 Excellent knowledge of both Oracle 11gR2 and 12c environments, PL/SQL and SQL (including analytic functions)
 Expertise with real-time applications to deliver complex result sets within sub-second response times
 Proven experience in designing and coding for AOP reporting.
 Proven experience of data modelling a new application, and extending an existing
application. Track record of solution design, architecture and development with Oracle
11gR2, PL/SQL and SQL
 Dynamic SQL, database objects, and performance-enhancing features from successive
Oracle versions
 Proficiency in identifying sub-optimal database operations using an analytical approach to
remediate issues (e.g. via query plan analysis, PL/SQL debugger, SQL tracing, etc.
 Know-how of agile development practices
Desirable:
 Oracle Apex Application Development
 Development Experience in Oracle Apex
 Development experience in Oracle Forms and Reports
Qualifications:
 Oracle Professional Certification
 Computer Science Degree
 Masters level degree in a related field

 A team player with good communication skills able to interact and converse with team
mates and customers across all levels
 Delivery motivated and able to work within tight timescales
 Possess the ability to interpret business requirements and turn them into affective (and
elegant) solutions
 Solutions driven individual that can take ownership of issues and find ways to continuously
improve the code in order to prevent reoccurrences
Salary:
£35K gross per annum plus the following benefits:

Hours:
The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday – 35 hours per week.
