Senior HR Advisor

Housed in the historic Hoole Bank House and surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, the campus comprises a Performing Arts Centre with a 420-seat theatre and state-of-the-art dance and music studios. Situated on the outskirts of Chester, The Hammond is located within an hour’s drive of Manchester and Liverpool and is two hours from London by train.

What will this role of Senior HR Advisor entail?

Reporting to the Director of Resources, as the Senior HR Advisor you will provide pragmatic and creative HR solutions and recommendations across the school, which has 130 employees, advising the Board of Directors, senior leaders and fellow employees.

You will provide professional HR advice to stakeholders on all areas of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, employment legislation, contracts of employment, retention, redundancy and employee relations. Supporting the delivery of the HR strategy, your duties will include, although not be limited to:

• Providing advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR related issues to support understanding and ensuring effective communication of HR practice across the school
• Assisting with HR audits, using data acquired to develop good HR practice and procedures
• Taking the operational HR lead on small to medium projects
• Reviewing and updating HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice
• Proactively gaining key client feedback to aid the HR Department to improve service levels
• Accurately recording all case work including minutes, emails, letters, and witness statements

What will I need to be considered for this Senior HR Advisor vacancy?

• Be qualified to CIPD Level 5 with proven experience working as a HR Advisor, ideally gained within the education sector (preferably schools)
• Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and HR good practice
• Experience of absence management, conducting disciplinaries and grievance procedures
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels including senior managers and other key stakeholders
