We are currently seeking to employ a number of either newly qualified or experienced Occupational Therapists to join our busy Social Care Access team in Hertfordshire, Hemel Hempstead.
About the Role:
As the successful Occupational Therapist you will provide assessment and recommendation in regard to major/minor adaptation, Disabled Facilities Grants, moving and handling, as well as specialist equipment. You will work in close partnership with our colleagues in Hertfordshire County Council, NHS, local housing authorities across Hertfordshire.
You will receive monthly work allocation and will need to make contact with individuals and their families to arrange assessment appointments. You will be required to assess people in their own homes, prepare written reports of the assessment, identify needs, plan, agree outcomes and take action to implement interventions. As a Housing Solutions resources much of our work is around adaptation to property or alternatively support and assisting local housing authorities in regard to identify and assessing suitability of alternative accommodation more suited to long-term needs.
Due to the need for flexibility in the role we can offer flexible working whilst covering core hours.
You can be a newly qualified OT or come from an experienced OT background and will need to be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists and HCPC. The role requires you to be mobile and as such you will need to hold a driving licence that enables you to drive in the UK.
Training & Development:
Whether newly qualified or an experienced OT, there are clear progression and mentoring schemes in place which will help provide the opportunity to progress to Senior OT or Advanced Practitioner roles. We encourage our OTs to take students and also to mentor unqualified staff providing support and learning to others whilst developing your learning and experience. There are many training opportunities to refresh and expand your knowledge. Some of the available courses include single handed care training, safeguarding, moving and handling, mental capacity, plans and drawings for housing adaptation. Further the opportunity to attend OT forums and workshops, and for newly qualified OTs a post graduate group.
