Important Information

We are looking for a caring, reliable and proactive Support Worker with a calm, patient and dependable approach to join our friendly team supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in our small, independent residential care home in Fordham.

About Us
We are a small, independent social care organisation located in Fordham, Colchester.
Our residential care setting supports 8 adults with learning disabilities:
5 clients live in our spacious bungalow, ‘The Conifers’, with a beautiful garden and heated outdoor pool.
2 clients live in our new, self-contained independent flats, each requiring dedicated 1:1 support for their complex needs.
Applicants must be flexible and willing to work a combination of day shifts and waking night shifts, in line with the needs of the service.

Current Opportunities
We have one full-time Permanent Support Worker vacancy available.
This role may include a combination of day shifts and waking night shifts, depending on the needs of the service and rota requirements. Applicants must therefore be flexible and willing to work both daytime hours and waking night hours where required.

Shift pattern
Day and waking night hours may be required. The exact shift pattern will be discussed at interview and confirmed in writing as part of the offer of employment.

Key Responsibilities
Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing and daily living routines.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ quality of life.
Support clients with mobility, physical activities, appointments and social activities.
Drive clients to appointments, community activities and outings using company vehicles where required.
Promote dignity, independence, choice and person-centred support at all times.
Support individuals using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches and follow behaviour support plans.
Facilitate appropriate communication with healthcare professionals, families and colleagues to support comprehensive care.
Assess risks appropriately and support clients safely in the home and community.
Maintain accurate records of client progress, wellbeing, care and support provided.
Engage in learning and take advantage of ongoing training opportunities.

About You
Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
Full UK driving licence is essential, as public transport is unavailable and staff are required to drive company vehicles.
Previous experience working in the care sector is essential, ideally supporting people with learning disabilities.
Confident, responsible, and able to work independently, use initiative and assess risk appropriately.
Caring, flexible and enthusiastic, with a genuine commitment to supporting adults with learning disabilities.
