Summary
Title: Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative
Contract Type: 2.5 Year Fixed Term Contract, 40 hours per week
Salary: £26,508 per annum
Reporting Office: West Ham Lane, Stratford, London.
Working Location: London North Region
Persona: Mobile/Field Based Worker: Contractual hours to be worked from various locations such as resident home, estates etc, with ad hoc office attendance as required
Closing Date: 17th June 2026 at 11pm
Interview Dates: Assessment Centre and Interviews will be held on the 3rd and 6th July 2026 at our office in Stratford. Due to time constraints, we are unable to reschedule assessment centres.

We are looking for Apprentice Property Maintenance Operatives to join L&Q in our maintenance team and to gain experience in multi-trades. You will be carrying out routine maintenance tasks; minor planned and responsive repair works to L&Q housing stock throughout the London North Region.
As an apprentice within the North region, you would be assigned to a patch within one of our neighbourhood teams. Here is a map of all L&Q neighbourhoods
L&Q’s North region Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeships will be offered within the following areas this year:
North: Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham
North-East: Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Havering & Surrounding areas

Join our North Region Direct Maintenance Team at L&Q:
As an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative, you will receive training to enable you to support the team in providing a first-class service to our customers. You will be expected to assist in a broad range of fundamental trade skills, including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, and external works. You will also be doing associated finishing trades, including tiling, painting, and decorating.
The successful candidates will be working under instruction and supervision. With the aim for being about to eventually taking responsibility for their own work (where appropriate, and within their assessed abilities and skill set). This will include carrying out day to day repairs, working with wood-based materials and associated products to learn to create and install building components assisting with installations and repairs.
Apprenticeship details: Level 2, Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship role offers a 2.5-year fixed term contract during this time you will undertake a Level 2, Property Maintenance Operative.
The apprenticeship learning will support your development and chosen career path. Whilst undertaking the apprenticeship, your manager will help guide your development and day-to-day work. You will also be assigned a mentor who will provide extra support throughout your role whilst you'll be working alongside experienced colleagues to learn hands-on, work-based skills.
What you'll bring:
· Enthusiasm for the role and L&Q.
· Willingness to learn and grow with a positive attitude to working within a busy maintenance team.
· Desire to deliver high quality work, customer focused and right first-time attitude.
· Willingness to study to gain a qualification and be keen to learn new skills to progress their career.

· Good problem-solving skills.
· Responsible and enthusiastic attitude.
· Desire to work within a diverse forward-thinking environment with diverse internal and external customers.
· Good verbal communication skills.
· Interest in using electronic media, (PDA /Email) and associated IT systems.
· A flexible and organised approach to work.
· Ideally GCSEs in English and Maths, Grade C / Grade 4 or above.
Other essential information:
· Must be able to work in the UK.
· NB: To qualify for apprenticeship funding, the individual must have a valid and eligible residency status. This usually requires residency in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
· A full manual UK Driving Licence is not a requirement for application of this apprenticeship programme, however following completion, a full UK Driving Licence will be required to be considered for progression to a ‘Trainee’ position.
· Successful candidates will be given a start date in August
