Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Essential qualifications include a Level A2 Science Qualification and qualifications related to COSHH/CLEAPSS. Candidates must demonstrate at least one year’s essential experience working within a specific curriculum area.
Desirable attributes include experience of line managing colleagues and working in a school environment. Essential skills encompass effective communication, maintaining confidentiality, proficiency in standard ICT packages, and the ability to prioritize and manage their own and others' workload. Candidates must be willing and able to enhance their qualifications.
This managerial role organizes and develops technical services, requiring the preparation and setting up of equipment and materials for practical use, strictly adhering to manufacturer's instructions. The Senior Technician manages safety compliance, ensuring the safe storage of materials, disposal of used chemicals, and undertaking safety checks in line with COSHH and H&S legislation.
A crucial component is providing supervision and guidance to other Technician(s), monitoring their work quality, and ensuring their efficient deployment, reporting difficulties to the Head of Science. They also monitor stock levels, compile inventories (especially regarding COSHH), and ensure laboratories are clear and prepared daily.
