Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential qualifications include a Level 2 or equivalent certificate in Food Hygiene, or demonstrable experience of working at that level. Experience or knowledge of working with food in a kitchen environment is required, alongside experience and understanding of customer service. Essential skills include the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of academy child safeguarding procedures and the ability to relate to students in a pleasant manner. A willingness and ability to obtain and enhance qualifications and training is essential. Experience of working in a school environment and qualifications in Health and Safety are desirable. A satisfactory DBS check is required.

The Catering Assistant assists in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food, producing high-standard meals on a daily basis. Duties include rigorously following food hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times.

The assistant is responsible for washing dishes, cutlery, containers, and all catering equipment. You will clean all catering areas daily to an agreed standard, ensuring they are free from hazards. Other tasks include operating as a cashier as required and under supervision, ensuring the safe operation of kitchen equipment, and reporting all accidents or incidents.
