Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Learning Support team for a Learning Support Mentor (LSM) Scheduling Lead.
This key role is responsible for coordinating daily cover arrangements for Learning Support Mentors, ensuring that students with additional learning needs receive consistent and effective support across all campuses.
The postholder will oversee timetable implementation, manage staff deployment, and maintain continuity of support in response to staff absence. There will also be an expectation to provide direct learner support where required, working with students across a range of SEND needs.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate daily cover for LSM staff in response to absence
Oversee and implement LSM timetables across campuses
Liaise with teaching staff, support staff, and managers to ensure effective communication of support needs
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and support provided
Communicate changes in support arrangements clearly to students
Provide flexible, needs-led support to learners when required, including those with complex needs
Support and guide LSMs, promoting consistency and best practice
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and student-focused environment
About you
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting student success.
Essential:
Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting
Strong organisational, administrative, and IT skills
Experience supporting learners with additional needs/SEND
Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively
GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
Desirable:
Experience in a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or similar role
Knowledge of the FE sector
Relevant qualification in education or support

This role will involve cross-college working and a high degree of flexibility. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider work of Learning Support and Inclusive Practice.
