About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Governance Senior Officer to play a key role in providing a professional, high-level, customer focussed governance service for the University.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the University’s decision-making to ensure the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness are met.

Working closely with the University Secretary, the postholder will directly support the University Council and its committees to ensure they are discharging their responsibilities and that corporate governance processes are compliant with University governance and statutory regulatory frameworks.

The postholder will lead the Governance Team, which is part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, line-managing and providing guidance and instruction to team members, overseeing the work of the team and setting priorities, improving the delivery and development of governance procedures and systems to streamline and improve operations, and contributing to a culture of change and continuous service improvement.

The postholder will have responsibility for a portfolio of University committees and governance areas, developing expertise to advise Council and Senior Leadership Team members and other University colleagues authoritatively and professionally on governance matters and will contribute to the increased awareness of governance.

The postholder will actively horizon-scan good practice, changes and developments, and will review governance and regulatory requirements, to identify issues, where improvements can be made, and deliver solutions which are informed by sector best practice taking account of the specific requirements and objectives of the University,

The postholder will make the best use of technology to support Council and its committees and to ensure that the University's governance and regulatory compliance arrangements are robust, fit for purpose and up to date.

This is a position of high trust and professionalism and as the postholder will work with a broad spectrum of sensitive information discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity are essential.
