Summary


We are looking for an experienced, dynamic practitioner passionate about safeguarding children who has strong leadership skills or feels ready to be taking the next step in their career progression.

We are an All Age Safeguarding team who provide support, advice, guidance and training to all staff across the Trust. This role will be to provide expert specialist knowledge, advice, clinical leadership and undertake statutory duties as a Named Nurse , acting as a role model of exemplary practice to team members. You will be based at Buckland Hospital but expected to work on all Trust sites.

· Operational management of the child part of the team.

· Undertake training and leadership and management training to enable you to fulfil the requirements of Named Nurse role

· Being part of the leadership structure for the All Age service, support both new and existing staff to gain/develop safeguarding knowledge, skills and expertise

· Work as a Safeguarding Child practitioner undertaking duty, training, supervision, report writing.

· Undertake Child Safeguarding Practice reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews

· Working Closely with our Multi Agency partners for safeguarding and looked after children and adults but also in addition for Domestic Abuse

· Support the safeguarding team to fulfil their multi -agency responsibilities as required by the Kent Safeguarding Children Multi Agency Partnership and Kent and Medway Adult Safeguarding Board

· Developing awareness of trauma informed practice across the Trust

· Participate in the development of safeguarding related policies and guidelines.

· Promote the “Think Family” agenda across all safeguarding working with the Named professionals to embed the paramountcy of the child and make safeguarding personal

· Provide advice and act as a resource to other departments within the Trust for safeguarding children and looked after children.

· Build strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve secure goals and objectives based on a foundation of self- awareness and emotional intelligence.

· Communicate very sensitive, complex condition related information to patients, relatives, colleagues providing empathy and reassurance.

· Working collaboratively with the senior nursing team and the Trust Safeguarding team to ensure there is effective education, supervision, oversight, completion of statutory safeguarding processes and service development.

· Support activities necessary for the Trust to meet it’s responsibilities for looked after CYP

· Work within the guidelines and standards set by the NMC, and abide by Trust Policies and Procedures. The post holder will ensure compliance with the Trust’s Risk Management Policies and Procedures. These describe the Trust’s commitment to risk management, the recognition that our aim is to protect patients, staff and visitors from harm, and stress that all staff have a responsibility to minimise risk.
