Our Opportunity

The right materials and equipment are essential for delivering engaging, hands-on science lessons. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Science Technician and Science Teachers to ensure that all equipment and resources are prepared and set up in advance, enabling practical experiments that bring the curriculum to life.

You will play a key role in maintaining a well-organised and efficient department, ensuring that resources are fully stocked, clean, tidy, and in good working order. Your attention to detail will help to create a safe and stimulating learning environment where students can explore and enjoy science through practical experiences.

In addition to overseeing materials and equipment, you will also be an active presence in the classroom, supporting both staff and students during lessons. You will provide guidance where needed and ensure that all faculty Health and Safety procedures are consistently followed.

This role is particularly well suited to Teaching Assistants with an interest in science, as well as school caretakers or site managers looking to transition into a new role that draws on their practical experience and skill set.

You will have:

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant subject (Such as GCSE/ NVQ Level 2 in science, or qualifications in supporting learning)
• Appropriate experience of working with children, ideally relevant to the subject area
• Good written and verbal communication skills: able to communicate effectively and clearly with a range of staff, pupils and parents
• Ability to work successfully in a team

Knowledge of health and safety is desirable, although this can be developed within the role. A willingness to act as a First Aider would also be advantageous.
