Join a Respected Family Law Practice
Our client is a well-established family law firm with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, client-focused legal services. Their team of specialist solicitors handles a wide range of family law matters, including complex financial disputes, children law, and domestic abuse cases.
They are now seeking a Family Solicitor (NQ–3 PQE) to join their Luton office. The firm is open to both traditional employed positions and consultant or fee-share arrangements, depending on experience and preference.
This is a strong opportunity for a junior to mid-level solicitor looking to develop their career within a supportive and well-structured family law environment.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of family law matters, working across both Legal Aid and private client work. Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing a caseload of family law matters with appropriate supervision where required
• Handling divorce and financial remedy proceedings
• Managing private and public children law cases
• Dealing with domestic abuse matters and emergency injunction applications
• Working on cohabitation disputes and TOLATA claims
• Preparing Schedule 1 Children Act applications
• Advising on pre-nuptial and related family law agreements
• Preparing legal documentation, drafting, and case progression work
• Supporting advocacy preparation and client representation
• Ensuring accurate case management and compliance with Legal Aid processes
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a motivated Family Solicitor with strong technical ability and a client-focused approach.
Essential Requirements
• NQ–3 years PQE in Family Law
• Strong understanding of Legal Aid processes, including eligibility and applications
• Experience managing family law casework (public and/or private)
• Ability to run a caseload independently with appropriate supervision
• Strong drafting and advocacy preparation skills
• Excellent communication and client care skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Competence using case management systems and standard IT tools
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
Desirable Experience
• Experience across both Legal Aid and private family law work
• Exposure to TOLATA, Schedule 1, or injunction matters
• Previous experience in a high-volume family law practice
• Experience supporting senior solicitors on complex cases
• Familiarity with billing processes and private client financial work
• A portable client base (advantageous but not essential)
Working Structure
The firm offers a flexible and supportive working structure designed to suit different levels of experience:
• Balanced and manageable caseloads with appropriate supervision
• Flexibility between Legal Aid and private work depending on preference
• Structured onboarding and training for junior solicitors
• Ongoing supervision and professional support where required
• A collaborative environment focused on quality and client care rather than pure volume
• Open discussion around systems and working arrangements at interview stage
What's On Offer?
• Competitive salary of £35,000 – £50,000 per annum (DOE)
• Consultant / fee-share option available for suitable candidates
• 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
• Ongoing training and professional development
• Supportive and collaborative team environment
• Flexible working structure depending on candidate profile and experience
