Summary

A Vacancy at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service

Applications are invited from dynamic candidates who would like to avail of the exciting opportunity for the post of a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for our new Acute Care Pathway that includes the established and well regarded CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Service

This is a full time post (10PA 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The Consultant is employed by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and will join the twelve other NHS Consultants and two Academic Consultants in the CAMHS service. We are open to discussion about less than full time working.

The vacancy came to existence due to the internal move of a Consultant . The post was developed to provide the team with consistent psychiatry input, consultation and to strengthen the multidisciplinary nature of the team. Also to reduce the impact of responding to unplanned mental health emergency and crisis support on community CAMHS consultant clinics and to support joint working across teams.

The candidate must be approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983

This post will be based at Pebble Bridge at Hopewood but travel readily between clinical and managerial bases.

The post-holder is expected to consult to the team to offer psychiatric expertise and direct involvement in the areas of: assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological treatments, use of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation in the management of children and young people, and the management of complex and/or risky presentations and severe symptomatology. Psychiatrists are not expected routinely to take on the role of case coordinator and there is a team caseload ethos. Involvement in other clinical tasks for the team (routine consultations, therapy) may be possible, but would be negotiated through job planning and would take second priority to the key psychiatric tasks.

Due to the fact that the job is split between geographically disparate sites, the successful candidate must be able to travel between these sites independently.

To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures.

To ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.

To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
