Summary
The aim was to accelerate the development of the skills, knowledge and networks of all civil servants, reaching across the wider public sector and delivering better public services for citizens across the country.
As we move into a new era under a new Government the aim is to reduce the cost of learning and improve the quality of outputs by moving to a new operating model. This is an exciting time of growth for Government Skills with new positions being created to support the future operating model.
The Supplier Liaison Officer will support the Learning Operations team within Government Skills (GS) and its eventual transition to the new national School of Government and Public Services. This role is vital in managing and maintaining effective day-to-day relationships with external providers and vendors, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with the transition from externally-delivered to internal training delivery and the future operating model. The role contributes directly to improving the quality of learning and development for civil servants.
Sitting within the newly-formed Learning Operations team, the Supplier Liaison Officer will be the primary operational contact for external partners providing services necessary for Government Skills' learning delivery. They will be responsible for the hands-on administrative and liaison duties required to support the G7 Service Delivery Lead in maintaining high service standards and compliance across all external interfaces.
Key responsibilities:
- Supplier Relationship Management: Serve as the day-to-day operational point of contact for external training providers and vendors supporting the delivery of core skills and leadership and management services.
- Operational Interface: Coordinate and monitor operational workflows that involve external providers, actively working to ensure smooth interfaces with internal design and delivery teams where external support is necessary.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Support the G7 Service Delivery Lead by collecting and analysing performance data from external providers to monitor standards and report on compliance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Compliance Administration: Assist in ensuring external delivery services adhere to Government requirements, including standards for accessibility, quality, financial reporting, and GDPR.
- Administrative Support: Manage necessary administration processes related to external training delivery, such as processing invoices, tracking contract milestones, and maintaining accurate records of supplier performance.
