Summary

The part-time Caretaker role will require the successful candidate:
1. To work in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Community Council
and its standards of conduct and practice.
2. To follow council policies and adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
3. To work with, and seek advice from, the Senior Caretaker, to ensure tasks are completed on time and fully.
4. To provide flexible cover for the Caretaker on leave and when needed.
5. To carry out the daily tasks of the role of caretaker when required, for example:
• Unlock and lock buildings and gates as required
• Prepare rooms for groups and bookings
• Prepare snooker tables and room for hire
• Answer calls and take bookings for all council facilities
• Take payment for hire when needed
• To carry out cleaning duties in buildings
6. To liaise with Council members, other staff and members of the public when needed.
7. To carry out any other reasonable request from, and to report as required to, the Clerk.

To carry out this role the applicant must:
1. Have a good level of computer literacy
2. Have a good level of physical fitness
3. Have a practical and ‘can do’ attitude
4. Be willing to learn (with support and training)
5. Be able to communicate with customers and other staff members in a friendly and respectful manner

Outline terms and conditions:
1. Working hours: 16 hours per week plus any additional required
2. Place of work: Old Carnegie Library, Parish Hall and other Council sites
3. Salary: NJC Scale 5 – 8 starting at £25,583 pro rata (FTE)
4. Line management: the post holder reports to the Clerk of the Community Council
