An exciting opportunity has arisen in North Tyneside Specialist Community Psychology Service for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, to provide excellent, high quality and time limited psychological interventions in accordance with NICE guidelines to patients presenting with a range of mental health problems.

The successful candidate will be joining a well-established, Psychology team that continues to offer high quality, evidence based psychological interventions for the North Tyneside population.

The service delivers high quality clinical supervision and CPD programmes in house, and strongly supports staffs’ continued learning and development; and established links with Newcastle Uni, DCLIN Psych Course.

Successful candidates should be keen to work therapeutically with a wide range of psychological difficulties, however a significant proportion of the work is with people presenting with complex psychological difficulties, predominantly linked to developmental trauma. The Psychology team includes therapists trained in a range of therapeutic models including Psychology, EMDR, CAT, CBT and IFS.

The role will require you to work in conjunction with colleagues to deliver services within a flexible model of care. As the service is designed to promote greater access you will be required to work flexible hours to enable this improved service delivery. Successful candidates will be registered with their relevant professional body (for psychologists this includes eligible for Chartered Status with the BPS). The successful candidates would ideally have experience working in primary care and have skills and expertise in working therapeutically with complex patients.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. The post holder will work within North Tyneside Specialist Community Psychology Service. The service is a specialist NHS primary care psychology service providing a range of psychological interventions for people living in North Tyneside who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

The post holder will provide therapy interventions to patients with a range of complex mental health disorders and provide clinical supervision to other Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and Psychological Therapists.
