Summary

Salary: Grade 7, £24,519 - £27,352 per annum.

32.5 hours per week, term time plus 1 week working 39 weeks per year

The Specialist Sensory Education Team are looking to appoint a Specialist HLTA to our team. We are looking for someone who has a strong background in supporting children with SEND, in particular children with Vision or Hearing impairments and is keen to continue learning new skills around Braille and assistive technology.

The successful candidate will be resourceful and adaptable, working with a varying caseload across the borough on a peripatetic basis.

Wigan Specialist Sensory Education Team can offer you support and training within a highly skilled, well regarded specialist team of Teachers of Vision Impairment, Teachers of the Deaf, HLTA’s and a mobility and independence officer.

Your role:

To work as a member of the Specialist Sensory Education Team to support access to the curriculum preparing and adapting teaching materials as appropriate and to support and implement the expanded core curriculum for children with a Vision Impairment.

To Work with Children and young people in the 0 25 age range in a variety of settings as well as with their families in the home.

About you:

You should have experience of working with children with a sensory impairment in the special or mainstream sectors devising and implementing individual programs of work.

Knowledge of Braille or the ability to achieve proficiency in grade 2 level Braille within 12 months.

Ability to work flexibly under your own initiative building good relationships with families, schools and other agencies.
