Job Description
Personal assistant/carer required to support a pre-teenage boy with personal care and social support after school and during school holidays. The role will be based mainly in the family home, with some outdoor activities, particularly during holidays.
Skills and Experience
- Experience of supporting autistic and epileptic individuals would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of Makaton and/or visual communication tools would also be helpful, though neither is essential.
-The ideal candidate will be patient, compassionate, reliable, and able to follow established routines.
- The successful candidate for this role will be provided with training and support on how to follow an emergency care plan.
Tasks include:
• Prompting and supporting personal care and hygiene routines, such as hand washing, dressing, toileting, after school and morning routines.
• Providing support in the kitchen e.g. choosing and preparing simple foods or snacks.
• Supporting communication using signing, visual aids, and a communication iPad.
• Assisting the Supported Person in engaging in interactive play and social activities, such as puzzles, games, Lego, and trampoline activities.
• Supporting health and wellbeing through walks and outdoor activities.
• Promoting independence through providing support taking medication.
A driving licence is not required.
