Full-Time or Part-Time Hours Available

Looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse job in South London with a genuinely supportive team, excellent development opportunities, and a well-established client base?

This thriving small animal veterinary practice in South London is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its experienced and friendly team. Established in the local community for more than 20 years, the practice continues to build strong relationships with clients and their pets while delivering exceptional standards of veterinary care.

Situated in one of South London’s most vibrant areas — famous for its rich culture, iconic landmarks, and thriving food scene — the practice offers the opportunity to become part of a close-knit, community-focused environment.

The Opportunity

The successful Registered Veterinary Nurse will enjoy the variety and autonomy of general practice branch life, working closely alongside a trainee nurse and a veterinary surgeon in a rewarding and collaborative setting.

This role is ideal for an RVN who enjoys building lasting relationships with clients, supporting preventative healthcare, and becoming a familiar face within a loyal local community.

The practice is looking for an RVN who is eager to help re-establish and grow a close-knit client base while supporting colleagues in the day-to-day running of the branch. There will also be opportunities to run nurse clinics, helping to strengthen relationships with patients and clients alike.

As the sole RVN in branch, leadership development and training can be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for a veterinary nurse looking to expand their responsibilities and develop professionally.

The practice benefits from full support from a nearby 24-hour sister hospital, ensuring seamless referral of complex cases and out-of-hours care for patients. Additional operational and clinical support is provided by an experienced regional manager and regional head vet.

The Role

Hours: From 32 hours per week
Flexible working options: Full-time hours available with a split between South London and a nearby sister practice if desired
Weekend rota:

1 in 3 branch Saturdays
1 in 10 Saturday rotation at the sister hospital

Bank Holidays: 1 per year
No on-call requirements

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Veterinary Nurse will play a key role in delivering outstanding patient care and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering a high standard of nursing care to patients
Assisting veterinary surgeons in theatre and consultations as required
Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient hospitalisation records
Ensuring excellent patient comfort, welfare, and recovery care
Cleaning, sterilising, and maintaining clinical equipment
Managing stock levels of medications, diets, and consumables
Supporting and mentoring trainee or student nurses as a clinical supervisor
Assisting with induction and training of new team members
Supporting reception duties where required, providing exceptional client care in person, via email, and over the phone
Helping maintain a respectful, collaborative, and positive team culture

The Practice

This well-established South London veterinary practice is conveniently located between two local train stations and easily accessible, just a 20-minute walk or 5-minute cycle away.

The practice prides itself on delivering exceptional veterinary care while maintaining a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for both staff and clients.

Salary & Benefits

The successful RVN will receive a salary of £35,000 – £39,000 FTE (based on a 40-hour week) depending on experience, with genuine scope for progression within the role.

Benefits include:

✔ 6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays (pro rata for part-time)
✔ Annual CPD budget plus up to 2 days’ paid CPD leave
✔ Paid 30-minute lunch breaks
✔ Access to a private medical healthcare scheme at a reduced rate
✔ Medical cashback incentives
✔ Leadership training opportunities for career progression
✔ Full support from a 24-hour sister hospital and experienced regional leadership team
