Summary
A full-time Scheme Support Officers in a Young persons Supported Accommodation scheme in Pontypridd. You will be required to work on a rolling rota which includes days, evenings, weekend availability and waking nights.
About the role
This is a Scheme Support Officer role based in our Supported accommodation service, The Grange, Pontypridd. We have a team of Scheme Support officers, and Project Workers providing 24/7 Support to our young people who are experience homelessness.
The Grange provides short term, temporary, emergency accommodation to young, homeless people aged 16 to 25. Working as a team you will give opportunity for the young people to engage in activities and training which will allow them to develop the necessary skills to manage a tenancy and to live independently.
Day to day duties:
- Engaging and interacting with the people we support
- Planning and delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, and wellbeing
- Supporting the young people as directed by the Project Worker according to the support plan specifically tailored to each individual
- Welfare checks/flat checks
- Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
- Reception duties as and when required
- Dealing with challenging behaviours and responding to arising needs
- Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have
- Preparation of flats ensuring that they are clean, fully equipped and ready for new clients to move into
Skills and Experience Needed
- A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
- Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
- Ability to lone working and making sound decisions independently.
