A leading civil engineering contractor delivering works on a major UK infrastructure project is seeking an experienced Agent to join the team on a freelance/contract basis in Buckinghamshire.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of complex civil engineering works on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
The Role


Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for managing site operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, and project delivery activities across a designated section of works.


Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the safe and successful delivery of civil engineering works from construction through to completion
• Leading site teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors
• Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and resources to achieve programme targets
• Ensuring works are delivered in line with quality, safety, environmental, and contractual requirements
• Monitoring project progress, costs, and productivity
• Reviewing and implementing construction methodologies and temporary works requirements
• Managing short-term planning, reporting, and site documentation
• Identifying and resolving technical and operational challenges on site
• Building strong working relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors
• Supporting commercial activities including forecasting, change management, and cost control

The successful candidate will have:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline
• Proven experience working as an Agent or Senior Sub Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong background in civil engineering disciplines such as earthworks, drainage, utilities, highways, or heavy structures
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams
• Good understanding of NEC contracts and construction delivery processes
• A valid CSCS card (Black - Manager preferred)
• SMSTS certification
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
