Summary
Role: Teaching Assistant – Year 6
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £95-£105 per day (Depending on experience and/or qualifications)
Contract: Long term Supply
About the role
We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our Year 6 team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children academically, socially, and emotionally during an important stage of their primary education.
The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Year 6 class teacher to provide high-quality support across the full classroom environment, helping to ensure that all pupils are fully engaged and able to achieve their potential. In addition to supporting whole-class teaching and learning, the role will involve delivering targeted small group interventions in areas such as English and mathematics, adapting support to meet the varying needs of pupils and helping to accelerate progress where required.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a primary school setting, preferably within Upper Key Stage 2, and will demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills alongside the confidence to lead group activities independently. They will possess high expectations for both achievement and behaviour, be organised and proactive in their approach, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team. A calm, positive, and nurturing manner, together with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents, is essential.
Requirements
Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications and training. All successful applicants will:
- Experience in working with children in a school or specialist setting
- A nurturing, patient and consistent approach
- Have referenceable experience working in a school setting.
- Be passionate about education, with a desire to help young people thrive.
- Be an excellent communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ideally hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to vehicle.
