Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 4-16 years
Start Date: September
Salary: £19500 - £20,500 (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are seeking motivated and experienced candidates who are compassionate, resilient and patient to join a fantastic and supportive school in Leeds. The right candidate will have experience with supporting pupil's with complex special educational needs including autism, severe learning difficulties and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with complex SEND (including autism, SLD, PMLD, and communication needs) in accessing learning
- Work alongside the class teacher to deliver adapted and personalised learning activities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, following individual EHCP targets
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
- Support pupils' personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment

What we're looking for:
- A caring, patient and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
- Experience working with children or young people with autism, learning difficulties, or communication needs (desirable but not essential)
- A positive, calm approach to behaviour support and emotional regulation
- Good communication skills when working with pupils, colleagues, and families
- A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to pupils' individual needs
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
