Summary
A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our renal dialysis team at Royal Preston Hospital as a Dialysis Support Officer. Hours of work will be during our early and late shifts Monday to Saturday 7am to 8pm when the dialysis unit is operational.
The role involves assisting the nursing and technical staff with the day-to-day running of a busy renal dialysis unit. Duties will include the preparation of dialysis equipment for the treatment of patients, external cleaning of dialysis machines following treatment, organisation of consumables required and moving equipment as required.
Applicants should have a friendly and caring demeanour with the ability to work with others in a busy professional environment.
Full training will be given.

• Organisation of consumables for dialysis.
• Connect dialysis machine(s) to water supply and drain points, start dialysis machine & initiate the T1 test. Assist with lining and priming.
• Check & if required, initiate the desired automatic cleaning function(s) on dialysis machine(s).
• Removal of bloodlines from the dialysis machine(s) on completion of dialysis session and dispose of in accordance with the renal waste control policy.
• Disinfection and cleaning of dialysis machines including blood splashes/spillages.
• Assist the clinical & renal technologists with the removal of dialysis machines for swap outs, service and repair.
• Ensure correct protective equipment and decontamination procedures are followed when working on equipment that has been in contact with blood borne viruses, bodily fluids and chemicals.
• Ensure storage and utility areas are kept clean and tidy.
• Housekeeping of consumables stores area(s) this includes unpacking boxes, stacking consumable, rotating stock, collapsing cardboard boxes, etc.
• Ensure patient & top-up trolleys are always sufficiently stocked.
• Complete monthly trolley cleans.
• Assist with the delivery of dialysis consumables to Ward 25 at the request of management.
• Assist with cleaning of water/drain panels in the dialysis units at the request of management.
• Other related tasks if required by senior members of the dialysis team.
