Summary

The Role

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and highly professionalReceptionist / Administratorto join our busy school office on a temporary basis. As the first point of contact for our school, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for students, parents, and visitors while providing essential administrative support to our staff.

This is a fast-paced role that requires a “can-do” attitude, the ability to multitask, and a calm demeanor under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Front of House:Greeting visitors, managing the sign-in process (ensuring safeguarding protocols are met), and handling busy switchboard calls.
• Student Support:Assisting students with general inquiries, lost property, and coordinating late arrivals/early departures.
• Data Management:Using school systems to update attendance records and student information.
• General Admin:Processing incoming/outgoing mail, filing, photocopying, and drafting school communications (letters/emails).
• Safeguarding:Acting as a key link in the school’s safeguarding chain by ensuring all visitors are correctly identified.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Experience:Previous experience in a reception or administrative role (experience within an educational setting is highly desirable).
• Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional telephone manner.
• IT Skills:Proficient in the use of computer packages such as Google including google docs, google sheets, gmail or similar
• Attributes:A high level of discretion and confidentiality, strong organisational skills, and a passion for supporting a learning environment.
• Compliance:AnEnhanced DBS checkis essential for this role. If you do not currently have one on the Update Service, we can assist with the application.
