Summary
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join a specialist SEND school in Ruddington. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
About the Role
As a Science Teacher within a SEND setting, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons tailored to meet a wide range of learning needs. You will play a key role in supporting pupils to develop confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning
.Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages (as appropriate to the school)
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual pupil needs
- Support pupils with a range of SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and reports where required
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and wider school teams
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policy
- Contribute to individual education plans (EHCPs) and review processes
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Science (secondary level preferred)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (essential or highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of differentiation and adaptive teaching strategies
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A genuine passion for inclusive education
