Level 6 Careers Adviser – Part-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026

Careers guidance and personal development are well embedded, helping pupils prepare effectively for future education, employment, or training.
This Level 6 Careers Adviser role offers the opportunity to work part time within a supportive secondary school setting on a long-term, ongoing basis. The Level 6 Careers Adviser will provide high-quality, impartial careers guidance to pupils, supporting informed decision-making and positive next steps. This role is ideal for an experienced careers professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a Norfolk school from September 2026.

Duties as Level 6 Careers Adviser:

  • Provide impartial one-to-one careers guidance to secondary-aged pupils
  • Support pupils in exploring post-16 and post-18 education, training, employment, and apprenticeship pathways
  • Conduct careers interviews and maintain accurate, confidential records
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the school’s careers education programme
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, teaching staff, and senior leaders
  • Support compliance with statutory careers guidance requirements
  • Assist pupils with applications, CV writing, and interview preparation
  • Liaise with external providers, employers, colleges, and training organisations
  • Track pupil destinations and contribute to reporting and evaluation
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, confidentiality, and professional boundaries at all times

Ideal Level 6 Careers Adviser:

  • Holds a Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance (essential)
  • Experience delivering careers advice within a secondary school or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of post-16 and post-18 pathways
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Confident working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Commitment to impartiality, confidentiality, and safeguarding
  • Willingness to commit to a part-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role
