Summary
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments Using your own judgment and communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail hardcopy and electronic Maintain telephone performance standards Enter requests for home visits onto the computer for referral to the Duty Doctor, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details Process repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer or manually Action administrative responsibilities accurately and in a timely manner Inform patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for all payments Computer data entry / data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures Providing clerical assistance to the practice as required including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning Keep the waiting room and reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or Practice Manager Any other delegated duties appropriate to this post Will be required to work at other sites. Weekend and Bank Holiday working required.
