Summary
The Trauma & Orthopaedic department at Leicester Royal Infirmary are looking to appoint an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) into their already well-established ACP team. As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for motivated, highly skilled and forward thinking ACPs to join our existing team. We would consider applicants that are currently on the ACP programme.
This post will be predominantly based across three trauma wards with the opportunity for clinic working. The post holder will be responsible for delivering in-patient care to Trauma Orthopaedic and Spinal patients. You will act as an expert resource for the multi-disciplinary team on the ward and liaison with other specialties will be required. We have ortho-geriatrician support on all wards, and you will gain valuable experience dealing with frail and elderly patients.
The LRI is one of the largest and most diverse NHS Trusts in the UK and our Trauma department see’s a wide range of acute and complex injuries. You will work closely with a team of 26 Trauma and Spine Consultants, Specialist Registrars and Core Trainee doctors. You will be a source of expertise for a team of locally employed resident doctors and supportive of their development.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the on-call rota.
The post holder will be an integral member of the Team, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, midwifery and allied healthcare professionals undertaking advanced roles and responsibilities traditionally the remit of medical staff under the direction of the Consultant in charge of the patients care.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will work within agreed protocols and guidelines exercising independent judgment in history taking, examination, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a specific caseload of critically or acutely or chronically ill or injured patients who may have highly complex acute presentations to the more minor common illnesses and injuries.
The post will have a primary location but may extend and influence across UHL, including the Emergency Department and adult inpatient wards.
The ACP will act as a professional resource for the multi professional teams, patients and carers. They will ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area, across the Trust and externally as appropriate. The ACP will triage referrals either independently or with medical, therapy or other ACP colleagues and make onward referrals in line with Trust policies.
