Summary
The surgery team is offering an exciting opportunity for a permanent specialist position. The post holder will provide specialist pharmacist input to neurology services at the RLH, while also supporting inpatient care across our two wards that accommodate patients from neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, OMFS, and trauma specialties. You will also work alongside the Highly Specialist Pharmacist, Antimicrobials and Infection Control in supporting the hospital as a specialist, providing support, advice and guidance to all members of the pharmacy department and wider MDT.
You will work alongside highly specialised pharmacists in the field, that are leading specialist across the country. The Royal London is renowned for innovative treatments and is a leading Major Trauma Centre in the UK, resulting in our neurosurgery and trauma teams managing some of the most complex emergency cases in the country.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking pharmacist eager to develop their specialist skills, contribute to and lead the pharmacy team in these forward-thinking, high-impact, complex clinical environments.
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a Specialist Pharmacist in Neurology to deliver patient focused, quality care, based primarily at the Royal London Hospital. Their primary role will be to work alongside the Highly Specialist Pharmacist - Neurosciences, to deliver specialist care to neurology patients across both inpatients and outpatients settings at the Royal London Hospital under the leadership of the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics. The post holder will also be looking after the neuroscience wards that have patients from neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, OMFS and Trauma specialties as well as supporting the Highly Specialist Pharmacist, Antimicrobials and Infection Control with key objectives for the RLH.
The post holder will be expected to promote the responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within these specialties in order to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety. The post holder will be supporting the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics and working alongside specialist pharmacist colleagues to lead a team of staff in the delivery of high quality clinical, professional and technical pharmacy service to all clinical areas and specialities within the division.
