We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.

We are looking for an experienced Operational Technology Engineer to manage and maintain the performance, security and integration of plant‑level Operational Technology (OT) systems. This is a hands‑on role supporting critical industrial control systems and working at the interface of IT and operational environments to ensure safe, reliable and resilient plant operations.

What you will do

You’ll play a key role in safeguarding and developing our OT infrastructure across the site, supporting automation, digitalisation and cybersecurity objectives. This role requires regular presence in shop floor, control room and field environments and acts as a bridge between traditional IT and OT domains. On‑call availability may be required to support critical systems.

Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of OT systems including PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS and associated industrial networks
Ensure high availability and reliability of plant floor control systems while minimising downtime
Implement OT cybersecurity controls in line with corporate IT/OT security policies
Carry out risk assessments, vulnerability management and contribute to incident response planning
Work closely with IT teams to support secure IT/OT network convergence, including network segregation, firewalls and secure remote access
Manage OT vendors and third‑party service providers
Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance and safety teams to align OT solutions with business needs
Lead or support OT‑related projects such as system upgrades, migrations and integrations
Supervise and mentor OT engineers, technicians or contractors where required
Develop and maintain OT procedures, training materials and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

What you will need

Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) working with IT/OT systems in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong hands‑on experience with industrial control systems (ICS) including SCADA and PLCs (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens)
Good understanding of industrial networking and protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus and OPC‑UA
Knowledge of OT cybersecurity best practice and risk management
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
Effective communicator with the ability to work across technical and operational teams
