Blackwood are currently looking for a Relief Cook to join our Team in Belses Gardens Care Home, Glasgow.



As an award-winning care provider, we support people with physical disabilities and long-term conditions to live life to the fullest. At our 24/7 Belses Gardens Care Home, we deliver person-led, complex care tailored to each individual’s needs and support plans.



As a Relief Cook, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers enjoy nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals in a safe and welcoming environment. Working closely with managers and team members, you will support the overall wellbeing of our customers through high-quality food preparation and service. Your responsibilities will include:



Preparing and cooking meals in line with dietary requirements and preferences
Ensuring food is presented to a high standard and served in a timely manner
Supporting with meal planning, including special diets (e.g. soft diets, allergies, cultural preferences)
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen
Monitoring food stock, storage, and rotation to minimise waste
Ensuring all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained appropriately
Supporting customers where appropriate with food choices and promoting healthy eating


Don’t worry if you don’t have all the experience, we provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to help you succeed in the role, although previous experience is desirable.


The ideal candidate must have:



A commitment to delivering high standards of cooking and presentation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic IT skills
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
A relevant Catering/Hospitality/Food Hygiene qualification/certificate (not essential, as training will be provided)
