Salary: £15.50ph, overtime rate at time and a third after 39 hours a week

Job Overview
A well-established metal company based in Wolverhampton seeks a reliable and skilled HGV Class 2 Hiab Hook Driver to join its logistics team. The successful candidate delivers metal products across designated routes. This role involves operating a Hiab hook loader to offload goods safely and efficiently. The position requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent vehicle handling skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate the Hiab hook loader to offload metal products at various delivery sites.
• Plan daily routes to ensure timely deliveries, maintaining clear communication with the logistics team.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
• Ensure all paperwork, including delivery notes and vehicle logs, is completed accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle and equipment.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times.
• Work typically Monday to Friday with occasional 1 to 2 night shifts per week as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Certificate of competence to operate a Hiab hook loader.
• Newly qualified drivers are welcome to apply.
• Experience in delivering metal products or within a similar logistics or distribution environment is beneficial but not essential.
Knowledge and Skills
• Ability to operate a Hiab hook loader with confidence and care.
• Good understanding of health and safety practises relevant to logistics and vehicle operation.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with customers and the internal team.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
• Additional training or certifications related to vehicle maintenance or logistics.
Working Conditions
• Work is predominantly based in the West Midlands region.
• Role involves physical activity, including loading and unloading products using the Hiab hook loader.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during deliveries.
• Company provides paid CPC training modules and Hiab refresher courses.
• Additional benefits include a safety bonus scheme paid each December, annual salary reviews in May, and a progressive holiday allowance starting at 22 days plus bank holidays, increasing by one day per year for the first five years.
