Summary
SEND Teaching Assistant – Permanent, full time from September 2026
This SEND Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work full time in a specialist setting supporting pupils with additional needs. The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where consistency, relationships, and emotional support are central to daily practice. This role is ideal for a SEND Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting pupils’ learning, behaviour, and well-being on a long-term basis.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide classroom and pastoral support for pupils with additional learning and emotional needs
- Support pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis as directed by teaching staff
- Assist pupils with engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies
- Support learning activities and help adapt tasks to meet individual needs
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
- Work closely with teachers and wider support teams to deliver consistent support
- Follow individual support plans and agreed behaviour strategies
- Contribute to a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with additional needs
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Commitment to working in a permanent, full-time role
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Passion for inclusive education and supporting pupil development
