Summary
Teacher - SEN
Location: Effingham, Surrey
Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)
Hours: 40 hours per week - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm
Start date: As soon as possible
Join a dedicated specialist school supporting students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) through a nurturing and inclusive approach. The school empowers young people to access the national curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs, while working towards meaningful vocational qualifications by the time they leave. We are seeking a committed Teacher with experience of ASC to deliver high-quality teaching and learning and help support pupils to achieve their full potential
Key Duties:
- Deliver and adapt the curriculum to meet pupils' educational, physical and social needs through effective short-, medium- and long-term planning
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining strong communication with staff, parents/carers and external professionals
- Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets, assessing and reporting on pupil progress in line with school and statutory requirements
- Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons, reflecting on outcomes to continually improve practice
- Contribute to reviews including EHCPs, Statements, PEPs and LAC meetings
- Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through ongoing CPD and awareness of current autism practice
- Support curriculum development and model high standards of professionalism and behaviour
- Manage delegated budgets responsibly and use school behaviour policies to address challenging behaviour in a calm, non-confrontational way
Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Experience working in a special school setting, particularly with pupils with ASC and SEND
- Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet a wide range of needs
- Ability to teach across multiple subjects
