Summary


An exciting opportunity exists for an individual with experience in rehabilitation to take on the role of senior therapy assistant within the Acute Medical Service therapy team.

The role will require you to be an active member of the team, being able to work alongside qualified therapists as well as independently, to facilitate the safe discharge of patients in front door areas and short stay wards. You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to a person-centred approach in line with the Trust values and behaviours.

The successful candidate would be required to have at least 2 years hospital or care experience or experience in a rehabilitation role.

This post will include weekend and bank holiday working, for which a day off in the week is given.

Therapists in front door areas play a vital role in assessing, maintaining and improving the patient’s physical and mental wellbeing whilst facilitating a safe discharge. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the therapists with patients who have a variety of different presentations.

You will be joining a team who provide high quality patient focused care and will be required to work within a busy environment alongside other healthcare professionals. Good communication skills are essential to this role.

Undertaking basic mobility and transfer assessments.

Speaking and working with the patients and their relatives to establish their pre-admission abilities and plan discharge.

Working with other teams e.g Patient Pathway Co-ordinators, to facilitate a safe discharge.

Recording all interventions in patient notes and electronic communication systems.

Training for this role will be provided to support your development through supervision, competency training and in service training.
